The opening sequence of our Crime Drama will be set in a house (preferably in the dark). A weapon will be shown and a series of murders will occur in the house. However, the identity of the killer remains secret but the killing occurs through the killer’s point of view. This will make the audience curious and suspense will build up. We will use police tapes and a police badge because its a form of identification that will be needed to convince the audience that the actors are real detectives. Costume for the police detectives will be formal (suits, etc).During the flashback, there will be a colour change (dim or black and white). The use of colour change will show that the past is being shown (time change) and it will make it obvious that we are looking at the past. The representation of gender and stereotypes will be exposed because the detective will be a female officer. She will also play the role of the mass murderer in the drama.
On Friday 13th November 2009 we made our pitch to the class. Our group name is ‘Oblivion.’ I am doing editing, Navid is doing camera, Asiya is doing sound and Clover is the team director (leader). We talked about the storyline briefly and went on to describe props, costume and setting. The name of out original crime drama will be ‘Key Witness.’
